The Georgia High School Association tennis teams faced off as they competed in county regionals on April 12 & 13th hosted at Richard Craig Park. Tennis teams from Dutchtown, Eagles Landing, Jones County, Locust Grove, Ola, Stockbridge, Union Grove, and Woodland participated in the tournament.
Above the Net teamed up with Tennis Center Manager, Harlon Matthews, and Tennis Coach, Joeann Compton to help staff and operate the concession stand during the two-day event.
Sunny blue skies made for a perfect backdrop for students to showcase their skills during this highly anticipated annual tournament. The students competed in both singles and doubles match play throughout the day in hopes of earning a top seed. It was no surprise that the competition on the court left spectators mesmerized as they cheered for their respective teams. The stakes are high with the GHSA tennis championship to be held at the impressive Rome Tennis Center located on the campus of Berry Collegeon May 8th. How awesome it will be to have a local Henry County High School tennis team win the much sought-after state championship.
Above the Net would like to especially thank Arlene Ray Reese, Barbara Dorsey, and Janelle Blasingame, for being on hand over the two-day event to volunteer and assist as needed. We appreciate each of you for supporting us in our efforts to grow tennis in Henry County, strengthening our community, leveraging tennis for educational scholarships, and building life skills.
