Above the Net had the opportunity to participate in the 2025 American Legion Post 330 Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament. This years' event was held at the Sun City Golf Club and had over 140 participants vying for coveted prizes and raffles donated by sponsors from across the community....all in the support of Hope for Heroes and all of the great work that the American Legion does for veterans and families.
Caniece Haywood, Jerome Bradley, and Priscilla Blasingame of Above the Net set up post at Hole #4 where we challenged each participant to bounce a tennis ball on a racket ensuring that the ball bounced above their head more times than their teammates. The winner received a raffle ticket for a collection of gifts including a drone, over the ear headphones, a Thermacell mosquito repellent device, and a camo inspired baseball cap...all items donated by sponsors of the event.
While all participants in the tennis game did great, there were a few standout performers! Josh Pollard from the Behr Paint team bounced the ball 117 times. Nathan Starr from the Tallman Pools team bounced the ball 275 times. Finally Hayes Heinecke from the Plat Master team bounced the ball a whopping 306 times! All had a great time and in the process learned a little bit about Above the Net and the wonderful things that we are doing in the community.
Kudos to veteran Jerry Thomas of Southern Homes and Post 330 for his leadership in pulling off yet another great fundraising event for the American Legion! Great job to him and all of the Veteran volunteers from Hampton Post 330, under the leadership of Commander Paul Powell!!
