At Above the Net, consistency matters—and that starts with our coaches. Recently, our team gathered for our bi-monthly coaches meeting, led by our Head Coach, Valdrez, to make sure we’re all on the same page as we resume our tennis programs across the board next month.
Even with the cold weather, our coaches showed up and met indoors to talk through new techniques, share ideas, and reinforce how important it is that we teach with one unified approach across all levels. These meetings help ensure that no matter which court or coach a player is with, they’re getting the same intentional instruction and support.
During the meeting, we also discussed the importance of addressing the high percentage of girls who drop out of sports by age 12. Coaches were encouraged to access the We Play Interactive training platform, which provides tools and activities designed to help girls feel more included, confident, and valued. By prioritizing this work, we’re reinforcing our commitment to creating a positive, supportive environment that encourages girls to stay engaged in sport.
As we return to the courts in February, we’re proud of our coaches’ commitment to learning, collaboration, and keeping our program consistent for every athlete we serve.
Cold weather, warm commitment. Our coaches coming together to stay aligned and keep our program strong.
