The Henry County Library System hosted an incredible S.T.E.M.Fest, and Above the Net was thrilled to take part in showcasing how STEM and tennis go hand in hand. The event took place inside the Arena at Heritage Park in McDonough, bringing together a variety of community partners with exciting STEM-based activities for participants to explore. Families and children filled the spacious venue, stopping by interactive booths and walking away with a newfound appreciation for the wonders of science.
At the event, Above the Net brought tennis to life through STEM! When a player hits the ball, factors like gravity, force, and kinetic energy all work together to send it across the net. Kids experienced these concepts firsthand through engaging tennis activities, using different types of balls with varying pressure levels to see how force and motion affect each shot. Many kids, some trying tennis for the very first time, were eager to learn and left excited about the sport.
This event was a fantastic way to blend education and play, making science come alive one swing and one rally at a time!
A huge thank you to Anna Cogdill, Assistant Director for Programming & Outreach at the
Henry County Library System, for partnering with Above the Net to ensure young athletes develop both on and off the court.
