This weekend Above the Net kids had the opportunity to participate in the annual USTA NJTL Leadership Camp hosted at the South Fulton Tennis Center.
Upon arrival, we checked in and received personalized colored and named lanyards and tshirts. After brief introductions, a welcome by USTA's Darren Potkey, and an inspirational speech by retired VP of the Boys and Girls Club Tim Richardson, the kids were on the courts stretching and warming up with coaches.
They were then assigned to six courts by age/ skill levels for some high energy drills and doubles and singles match play. After that, the kids had a hearty Subway lunch and worked by NJTL on a STEM activity focused on utilizing provided supplies to build a tower tall enough and strong enough to hold a Tennis Ball!
The ATN team quickly got to work on the task and succeeded and in exchange each received tennis towels!
The day was closed with group pictures and Swag bag handouts thatincluded toys and snacks for the ride home!
Thanks to the USTA Foundation and USTA Southern for the invitation and a great event for the kids!
