What a Beautiful Saturday for Competitive Play for Beginner Tennis Players!!

This past Saturday was nothing short of spectacular as Above the Net hosted its very first tennis matches for children aged 8 to 12! The energy was electric, the enthusiasm was contagious, and the courts were alive with young athletes eager to put their skills to the test. We organized seven singles matches with no-ad scoring, giving our players a real taste of competitive match play.

At Above the Net, we are dedicated to teaching children the fundamentals of tennis while building their confidence and knowledge to compete at a tournament level. This weekend was a major step forward as we introduced many of our young athletes to the structure and excitement of match play. It was incredible to witness them learning the rules, mastering their serves and rallies, and most importantly, playing with heart and determination.

But the lessons didn’t stop at the baseline! Beyond the technical aspects of tennis, our players also developed camaraderie and sportsmanship—two essential qualities that shape not only great athletes but also great individuals. The high-fives, words of encouragement, and genuine joy on their faces made it clear: they weren’t just learning to compete; they were learning to support and respect each other.

And the best part? This is only the beginning! We will continue hosting these tournaments, giving our young athletes more opportunities to grow and shine.

If you have a child who loves sports, enjoys a challenge, or simply wants to try something new, we invite you to bring them out to the courts. Whether they are just starting or aiming for tournament play, Above the Net is here to guide them every step of the way. Please visit www.abovethenetennis.org on how to get started.

Join us as we turn practice into competition and dreams into reality—one serve at a time!
